Hi Dog Lovers everywhere!
I'm Scott and I'm a dog trainer based out of Geelong, Victoria, Australia.
My background in dog training stems from farm working dogs, where I grew up with a lot of them and once I finished school went straight into sheep farming where I could easily have up to 15 dogs and puppies at any given stage. I would also take on "un wanted" or working dogs that were deemed a failure by others, re train them properly and either keep them myself or find them a better home! It was something I loved doing as these dogs just needed some calm training and engagement! I now live in a suburban world with my Wife, 2 kids (1 & 3 years old) and our 2 awesome Dalmatians Stella and her deaf brother Bonkers!
Anyway, this blog is going to be a nice little brain dump for me to share with you. As I train dogs for a living, I get to come across every issue you can imagine. I plan to share some of these and offer advice on what we worked on to help the client and their dog.
I don't have to tell you how many methods there are to train a dog, my method is probably different to most but it works and dogs love it. I don't label it. I don't use buzz words. I don't judge any other methods. I've always just done my own thing.
The foundation of my training is calming a dog down so it can focus better on their human. It's easy to train a calm dog, it's hard to train and over stimulated dog.
